The Colorado Business Resource Guide provides
general information to assist you in operating your business whether
you are a new startup or you have been in business for some time.
It is designed to save you time by putting together most of the
regulatory information necessary to establish a business in Colorado.
It also contains many useful tools and references for successful
business operation. The Guide is available on-line or a printed
copy can be requested from 1 (800) 592-5920 or 1 (800) 333-7798. (http://www.state.co.us/gov_dir/oed/guide.html)
The Colorado Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network
is dedicated to helping small businesses throughout Colorado. The
SBDC combines information and resources from federal, state and
local governments with those of the educational system and the private
sector to meet the specialized and complex needs of the small business
community. Free one-on-one counseling services, as well as workshops
and seminars are offered at the twenty community based SBDC service-centers.

The Colorado Data Book provides a broad overview of a number
of topics of interest to businesses, whether they are already in
Colorado, or considering expansion or relocation. Information covers
the state's economic base, population and demographics, employment
and job training, technology resources, business taxes and public
financing programs. The Data Book also contains education statistics,
description of the transportation system, Recreation and Tourism,
and quality of life indicators.
America's Career InfoNet - Use these resources
to research a potential employer and industry before an interview.
You can also use these sources to find potential employers and initiate
contact instead of waiting for them to contact you. The employment
experts say that most jobs are never advertised, so letting the
hiring managers know that you are available can be the best way
to find these opportunities. http://www.acinet.org/acinet/library.asp?category=2.4

The Longmont Area Economic Council (LAEC) exists for the sole purpose of keeping the Longmont area economy strong. This is accomplished specifically by "actively supporting the creation and preservation of quality primary jobs". Primary employers are those who sell the majority of their goods and services outside the region. LAEC is a public/private partnership, governed by a Board of Directors made up of representatives from primary employers, the City of Longmont, and the business community at large.

Small business is what gives Longmont its flavor — making it the unique town we love to live and work in. We recognize the difficulty of running a successful small business and the need for an organization that would represent only small business. The LSBA (Longmont Small Business Association) is such an organization.
