General Information for Parents and Guardians in SVVSD

To register for school, a new student must be:

* a resident of the District (proof of residency required)
between the ages of 5 & 21 years
* 5 years old on or before September 30 for kindergarten
* or 6 years old on or before September 30 for first grade

The new student must have:

* a birth certificate or its equivalent
* up-to-date immunization records
* evidence of a recent physical examination is requested
* the child's Social Security number is requested

Transportation

Transportation is available for elementary students living 1-1/2 miles or more from their school of attendance, and for secondary students living 2- 1/2 miles or more from their school of attendance. Please call 303-682-7256 for bus route information.

Food Services

School lunches are $1.750 for elementary students and $2.00 for secondary students. 14 Schools also have a school breakfast program. $1.00 for elementary schools, $1.25 for secondary school students. Children may bring lunch from home. Weekly lunch menus are posted at each school, featured on the website, published in the local newspapers, and posted on the Channel 16 broadcast announcements. Parents/Guardians are invited to dine with their children any time throughout the year. Reservations are accepted by calling the school office. Free and reduced price meals are available to students whose families qualify. Applications are available in school offices and may be submitted anytime throughout the year. Student Services

Parents/Guardians or teachers who are concerned about a student's progress may inquire at Student Services. Services are determined jointly by parents and school staff. Assessment of preschool age children for a possible special needs condition is available through the District's Child Find Program. Please call (303) 772-7700 for details.

Call the schools directly. Elementary students attend approximately 6 hours and 30 minutes per day, and secondary students attend approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes per day.

As soon as a decision to close schools has been made by the Superintendent of Schools, staff uses a variety of means to relay the information to the general public. The most expedient means of communication is by posting on the District's website, www.stvrain.k12.co.us.  In addition, the District's closure of schools is posted on the District newsline [ (303) 682 - 7387 ] and is also reported to these television and radio stations.


Fees

There are no fees for regular instructional programs. Fees are charged for extra-curricular activities and special instructional program materials. Contact your school for more information.
