Science and technology for people.

Increase Quality, Productivity and Reduce Losses

Human Factors Engineering, also known as Ergonomics, is "…the science of making machines, products and places fit people." (Gay, 1986)  In designing for human use, foremost consideration is given to human capabilities, needs and behavior. The goal is to assure that the systems involving people, the products and tools that they use, and the environments where they pursue activities are designed to be usable.

Services: Services are available for nearly any situation where people are involved with a product, with a system, or a business, or an industrial or public environment.

  • Product and system design and assurance
  • Hardware, software and documentation
  • Consumer and industrial products
  • Forensic engineering (expert witness)
  • Educational programs, seminars and workshops

Solutions: A few of the areas addressed in the field of Human Factors Engineering (Ergonomics) include:

  • ADA
  • Competitive advantage
  • Industrial
  • Manufacturing
  • Risk control
  • Safety
  • Universal Design

Contact Information: For more information on experience, expertise, credentials, and services, please email Andrew D. Keller, CPE ret at Human Factors Design or contact him at (303) 772-4801.

Mr. Keller's paper about American business and industry, "Ambivalence about the OSHA Ergonomics Rule" (*.pdf file), is available for review.

The Ergonomist (or Human Factors Engineer) acts as an advocate for the human user in the design of systems, products or environments.
